Calling all clowns and clown-curious of Brum!
This is an invitation to Brummies who are seriously silly and would like to PLAY! PLAY! PLAY! to join in me for some clown jams, where we get our clown game on together! Where we flex our imagination and get seriously S-T-U-P-I-D!
Join me, Flavia Bertram, to kick off with the
📣 📣INAUGURAL GATHERING OF *BRuM CLoWN CLuB* (EARLY 2026) 📣 📣
We will dance from the ridiculous to the sublime, liberate our imaginations and build our local clown community through games, improvisations, and a general pursuit of the pleasures of play and performance. At the Inaugural Gathering, our clowns will also write the principles and foundational intentions for our club.
*BRuM CLoWN CLuB* is an inclusive place of play for anyone at any stage in their clown journey.

ABOUT FLAVIA, HOST & FACILITATOR OF BRUM CLOWN CLUB

I am a community facilitator and theatre maker with over 15 years of teaching and performing. I host workshops, performances and conversations, that seek to invigorate the imagination and deepen interconnection between humans and the world we inhabit. Regardless of the field I operate in, my work is grounded in a commitment to play, empowerment and a just, fair ecological transition.
I have an MA in Applied Theatre, and certificate in Corporeal Mime (International School of Corporeal Mime). My main clown training has been in Pochinko Clown with Turner (Mump and Smoot). I have also played, collaborated or trained with amazing clowns including Lucy Hopkins, Steve Sobal (All IN), John Wright, Jenny Hazelton (One Clown North) and John.
Artistically, I like to blend together art forms such as cabaret, new writing and physical theatre. You can see some of the work I’ve made with Ayesha Tansey/Sarah Fraser at HOAX and with One Taste Cabaret. However, recently I have been interested in exploring how play and creativity can support positive visions for the future and liberate the imagination. My most recent projects have been workshop series Ceremony of Self and podcast Sonic Seasons with Rosie May Jones.
